makeup
For our media trailer we thought it would be a good idea for our horror theme to practise horror themed makeup.
The looks we decided we liked were the bruising and also the acid burns.

bruising:
The bruised effect on the neck and hand, were successfully achieved through using coloured face paints. We used white, blue, green, yellow, black and purple. To alter the heaviness of the bruise, the amount of colour applied would need to be adjusted.
For the base of the bruise we used white face paint and layered on different colours to make up the bruise.
After using white we went over the bruise with a dark blue and purple face paint.
This was the dark base of our bruise. To highlight the bruise we then went over it with lighter colours. These lighter colours were light greens and yellows which are colours consistent with bruises. Once these colours were applied, we looked at the depth of the bruise and the goal we had in mind. We decided if we wanted to make the bruise darker, we could add more blues and purples. In contrast to this if we wanted it to be a lighter bruise, we could go over it with white, define the colours and then to finish go over it with a skin coloured powder to take away from the obviousness of it being face paint.

acid burns:
To create this acid burnt affect we used liquid latex and red coloured face paint. We layered up the liquid latex to create a fake layer of skin. Once the skin layer was thick enough to be manipulated with we used a pair of tweezers to create small gaps in the latex. We overlapped the latex to make it look like a burn. After this we added red face paint into the gaps we created and then over the top of the burn and around the side, we also included blue and black to add more effect. To finish this off we added fake blood into the gaps and under the latex skin to completely make the hand look burnt.
cuts:
To create different types of cuts we used special effects wax, this can be moulded and manipulated into looking like a deep cut. When using the wax its good to use vaseline to make it easier to mould and shape. Once moulded to make it look more like a natural skin tone we put make up powder on the top. The make-up powder makes the wax dry and gives it more skin coloration. After this depending on the type of cut we were aiming to create we added different colour face paint. For the larger cut we added a lot of blue, purple, green and yellows. With this it makes the cut look more bruised and more painful. However, with some of the smaller cuts we chose to put less colour into them and made them smaller with less fake blood.
