casting decisions
killer:
We thought carefully about the people we decided to include in our trailer.
Firstly we considered our killer being, Jon Smith. Reasoning behind this is because of his intimidating look. This was a look we wanted to achieve with our killer. Most human killers in other well known horror films are mostly all intimidating, tall and menacing.
Firstly we considered our killer being, Jon Smith. Reasoning behind this is because of his intimidating look. This was a look we wanted to achieve with our killer. Most human killers in other well known horror films are mostly all intimidating, tall and menacing.
This is a screenshot of our killer in our trailer. Having Jon walk after a female victim, we saw that this was intimidating and threatening and exactly the type of killer we needed as he does not look as if he is a school student like most other people we thought of using as a killer.
This here is an image of the antagonist in the horror film 'Would You Rather'. We can relate these two killers through small similarities in the way that they're both unmasked normal men. We also identified that both characters are rather intimidating which is something we wanted to replicate in our trailer. Also both characters are basing their actions on a twisted game.

The choice in using Jon as our killer in our trailer was a successful choice to make.
victims:
The first victim introduced within our trailer is Hannah. We chose Hannah to be one of our victims because of her hair being mostly blonde fitting with original horror conventions.
Like within most horror films there are usually blonde female victims as they are seen as more vulnerable and not as smart as the killer, and therefore they are usually the first character to die.
We have tried to represent this in our trailer by having Hannah's character come first therefore portraying how she may be the first to die. |
The second victim we revealed within our trailer was Joe. We believed Joe was a good example of a male victim and also a male victims helps show the audience the strength of our killer as male murderers in horror films do not typically select male victims.
As male victims are not typical prey for male killers, we saw a chance to challenge the conventions and add another dimension to the killer we have. We believed Joe would be ideal for this character choice. With his choice of more alternative clothing and a more alternative look, we thought this would be a challenging male for the killer to face.

The third victim we decided to use in our trailer was Gabby. Gabby is a young innocent young girl who looks as if she can do no wrong. We thought this look was necessary for our trailer.
Gabby was a brilliant actress in our trailer. We thought with her innocent looks she is a necessity when it came to choosing actresses for our trailer. Gabby's brown hair made her different from the other actress in our trailer, who has blonde hair. It is usually seen as the girl with brown hair is looked at as the 'final girl' the one girl who is smarter and manages to last until the end of the film. Gabby was ideal to replicate this ideology and therefore the decision to cast her in this particular role was a good choice.
